Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

"I think pain is what everyone is afraid of. Our goal is pain control and pain relief." -Linda Perdue RN at Greenview Regional Hospital

We understand that one of the most terrifying portions of a surgery to think about is the pain. Because of this, Greenview Regional Hospital’s Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) portion of surgery services is well equipped to bring you as much comfort as we possibly can.

The majority of the time, the patient to nurse ratio is one to one. The medical staff makes sure that the lines of communication are open with the doctors and anesthesiologists. If any pain arises our anesthesiologists (hyperlink to profiles in text) are a step away. Because of the location of our recovery room, you can go from surgery to recovery with an anesthesiologist near by without traveling far.

FAQ:

How long do I stay in PACU?
Separation anxiety is a huge issue within your recovery process, so we don’t keep you in the PACU room any longer than we have to. Patients are kept in PACU for 30 minutes to an hour.

Can my family come into recovery with me?
Your family is not allowed into the recovery room while your body begins to heal; however, we want your family to be able to see you as soon as your doctor and nursing staff feel it is appropriate.
